Do we need Z-data for Augmented Reality?

No!  Very few organizations have Z-data for all of their assets and GIS database.  The Argis Lens adds a digital elevation model to your GIS data for real world context.  If you do have Z-data, that’s great!  The Argis Lens also offers ground offset elevation viewing for Z-data sets.

What work needs to be done to get my GIS data ready for Augmented Reality?

Almost nothing! The Argis Lens is built to be able to translate GIS data from your ArcGIS system.  Just follow these 2 steps

  1. Publish data you want to see in AR as feature services.

  2. While the Argis Lens can read and access GIS data from ArcGIS Enterprise, it is an easier experience to publish GIS data onto ArcGIS online (AGOL).

What security do I give up to use my GIS data in Augmented Reality?

None!  Argis Solutions provides a secure and private interface to connect to your GIS data for AR visualization.  Your data remains protected by your own Esri user IDs and passwords.

How will my data show up in Augmented Reality?

Exactly like it’s designed in your ArcGIS system. By digesting feature services, the Argis Lens translates GIS directly, using the same color legend and system for ease of use and understanding.

Do I need Esri ID for each user of the Argis Lens?

No!  While the Argis Lens does seamlessly integrate with ArcGIS, you do not need an Esri Identity for each user of the Argis Lens.  If you want to use Esri Identity for your Argis Lens users, no problem!  It is not a requirement, though.

How does licensing work?

The Argis Lens is based on user ID, not mobile device.  So you can have the Argis Lens on multiple devices, but not have the same user logged onto 2 devices at the same time.  Administers do not need a license to use the Argis Console, our administrative website.

What type of device is compatible with the Argis Lens?

The Argis Lens supports post 2017 iOS devices with AX9+ chipsets.

Do I need an external GPS to use the Argis Lens?

No. The Argis Lens is as accurate as the GPS unit it is connected to and can be used with the internal GPS within the device. Use of a bluetooth GPS is optional, but some end users experience better visualization of their data if they are using some type of bluetooth or commercial grade GPS unit paired with the device.

Is Augmented Reality too disruptive?

Augmented Reality addresses a need that most field service organizations lack. It brings the map into the world of the field operator. Many organizations are finding better field engagement and productivity, giving them a competitive edge.  Also the Argis Lens seamlessly integrates with your ArcGIS platform with little effort from your GIS team.  The Argis Lens makes it easy to integrate AR into any workflow and will immediately create field teams more map-savvy for the work at hand.
